No. Every Studio tool — metronome, tuner, fretboard viewer, circle of fifths, key signatures, chord voicings, and the rest — works without an account. Signing in only adds cloud sync for your layout across devices.

What is the circle of fifths used for?

Accepted Answer

The circle of fifths shows how all 12 keys relate by perfect fifths, which makes it fast to find related keys, key signatures, and common chord progressions. In Studio, clicking a key on the circle updates every other widget at the same time.

Does the fretboard viewer show scales and chords?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The fretboard viewer overlays scales, modes, and chord shapes anywhere on the neck. Change the key or scale and the diagram updates instantly, so you can see where every note sits without pulling up a separate diagram.

Can I save my studio layout?

Yes. Drag, resize, and remove widgets however you like. If you're signed out, the layout saves to your browser. Sign in and it syncs to your OpenFret account so the same layout follows you to any device.
